Musculoskeletal Interface Service (MSK)
What is the service?
A highly specialist multi-disciplinary service dealing with musculoskeletal conditions that have either diagnostic uncertainty or require treatment in Primary Care.
The service triages all GP orthopaedic referrals from the Referral Support Service or GP practice and directs them to the appropriate pathway, e.g., orthopaedic assessment, referral on to secondary care, musculoskeletal physiotherapy.
For patients requiring orthopaedic assessment, the service supports GPs in their primary care management of musculoskeletal conditions which extend beyond their skill-base. This service has access to diagnostics and is there to advise, assess and treat where appropriate. The clinicians utilise a variety of assessment and management techniques which provide a detailed and reasoned evaluation of a patient's individual condition.
